Bestmind alongside Niguarda - Olympic Reference Hospital for
Milan–Cortina 2026

ASST Grande Ospedale Metropolitano Niguarda is currently undergoing an extensive programme of infrastructural works, redevelopment and expansion as part of the broader investment framework of Italy’s National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR) and the initiatives linked to the Milan–Cortina 2026 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Niguarda has been designated as the reference healthcare facility in accordance with the criteria defined by the International Olympic Committee (IOC), with a coordinating role for direct healthcare assistance at the venues in Milan, Bormio, and Livigno. This appointment has required compliance with tight deadlines, the simultaneous management of numerous construction sites, and the maintenance of full hospital operations in order to guarantee the availability of all healthcare services and the highest standards of care, particularly in the field of emergency and urgent care.

In this context, Bestmind has had the honor of supporting Niguarda through Project Management and Program Control activities, providing technical and operational coordination as well as supervision of all construction sites under its remit in the Milan area. On 29 January, five new areas of ASST Grande Ospedale Metropolitano Niguarda Ca’ Granda were inaugurated as part of the Olympic programme:

  • Olympic Emergency Department
  • Olympic Family Area
  • New General Emergency Department (DEA) Entrance
  • RAT Area within the DEA
  • Olympic Ward in the Rossini Building

Through Dyana, the data analytics solution developed by Bestmind, designed to provide a clear and unified view of project status with periodic and automated reporting, the team was able to effectively support the Technical Office and all Project Managers in a highly complex operational environment.

The programme represented one of the most significant healthcare infrastructure transformation initiatives at national level, both in terms of scale and operational complexity, and constituted a key element in preparing the public healthcare system for an international event such as Milan–Cortina 2026, which is expected to host more than 3,500 athletes from 93 countries.
Following the handover of the Olympic facilities, the programme continues with the works planned under the PNRR, with Bestmind continuing to support the monitoring and operational management of all projects.
